You absolutely adore your teen so you do EVERYTHING for them. Then, you wonder why they won’t do anything for you or anyone else.
You didn’t mean to and it all came from a loving place, but you now have a teen who only thinks of themselves, and how they can get out of doing anything. This is not what you thought was going to happen when you cleaned their room and did all that laundry.
Your teen may be hard to motivate when the topic is clean your room or take out the garbage, but these simple tasks teach your teen the value of work and doing for others, their family. It teaches your teen that there are other people in this world and everything does not revolve around them. Don’t ever think that it is easier to avoid the argument. In your house, you make the rules and enforce them. Your teen is going to respect you for this in the end.
Your teen should be special in your eyes, but they should not feel entitled to everyone else treating them that waytoo. Your teen’s success and existence is based on their gift to the world and not just what they can take from the world.
