Cuz Teen Girls Are Free To Choose
The Women’s Movement in the sixties and seventies required a different agenda than today. One might say that the choices of today’s teen girls are endless and yet, there are those who marry to leave home, fail math so a boy will like them and opt to get pregnant or fake a pregnancy to keep a boyfriend. Is that what the struggle was about you may ask?
Well, no. The point is that was the struggle of that time, it meant a lot to those women and now, your teen girl, these teen young women have their own unique struggle and have chosen to express that in ways that are sometimes beyond the minds of their mothers, grandmothers or even great grandmothers.
In the seventies there was this great commercial about the twenty-four hour woman. She could possibly do everything, but I think somewhere along the line today’s teens realized why? Why do it all and if you’re going to do it all because you have to then why fake it? Why not just do it alone? The point was that the revolution gave them the choice so much that they have engrained in them the entitlement of that choice to do whatever they want including be a stay at home Mom with five kids because after all, is there truly a more noble profession?
Choice. This is what you gave them. When you marched, you gave choice. When you completed professional school, you gave them a choice. When you allowed them to choose, you instilled in them the ability to make a choice. Please don’t be upset now that they have made it. You have made yours and now it is their turn to make theirs.
