Sometimes it feels like your teen’s goal is simply to not get hurt. Their guard is always up and you’re constantly decoding their true intentions.
Your teen’s romantic relationships are great opportunities to help them decode the intentions of their partner from a gender perspective and it will be one of the first ways they begin to use adult reasoning on even your relationship with their other parent. Help your teen understand which behaviors they play a role in and other behaviors that have more to do with the way men and women communicate or work together or even work apart.
By helping your teen with the intricacies of relationship communication you help their developing brain begin to interpret more accurately behaviors and body language in their partner that may or MAY NOT have to do with something they said or did. You help your teen become more present and less defensive in a relationship.
Now, that’s and awesome partner!
