Are You Raising Prince Charming?

There’s going to be a difference between the way your son treats you his mother and the way he treats a love interest. Do you know the difference?

You may not like your teen dating, but sooner or later you might want grandkids and dating is a great way to get you to reach your goal. Like any parent you want your teen to end up happily married, but this can sometimes go down the tubes not because of your in-law, but because of your teen. Prince charming has to be raised. He doesn’t just appear one day. So observe and look at who their role models are for how they treat the people they date. It says a lot about them. Often times this role model is their parent and you may have trouble with things there you don’t want to share with your teen, but help them understand this very difficult concept anyway. Why? Because if you are hurt a future in-law will most likely be hurt as well.

Hopefully your teen treats you like the adoring parent you are, but when you notice lack of consideration or hurtful treatment you should say something to the other parent because it allows you to say something to your teen. Neither Rome nor Prince Charming could be built in a day.
