Ask your teen what makes for a great date and something about personality might pop up. Ya know, “someone with a great personality.”
That GREAT personality can be a red flag. Personality disorders like narcissistic personality disorder where a potential mate can literally charm the pants off of your teen are one of the most unhealthy relationships your teen can engage in.
Unfortunately, the teen years are a time when personality disorders that have been in the making over the years through poor relationships with primary caretakers finally reveal themselves. These personality disorders reveal themselves as unconscious coping skills that create a terrible foundation for a healthy relationship with anyone how much more someone with whom you might want to build a life.

You may not know this.
